OBJECTIVES OF THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

To bring the old students of the Department of Social Work and the erstwhile DSSW under one forum for exchange of experiences, dissemination of knowledge amongst its members, furtherance of fellowship and the advancement of professional knowledge of the members.

To conduct seminars, conferences, workshops, interactive sessions, endowment lectures and other academic activities for the members as well as students and/or faculty on various topics of interest.

To provide a forum to the members to interact with one another as well as the Department faculty, non-teaching staff and students.

To create and establish Alumni endowments for granting scholarships, prizes and medals to the students showing high proficiency in their studies and honor former students / alumni of the Department.

To advise and interact with State and Central Government Bodies, Universities and Associations of other academic institutions on matters relating to promotion of social work education and social policy matters.

To collect funds by subscriptions, contributions, donations and gifts from members, non-members, Governments, Universities and other institutions, philanthropists or by organizing educational and cultural events for furtherance of the above objectives.

To render financial aid to economically deserving students studying at the Department.

To render support to deserving alumni in cases of extreme compassionate circumstances.

To bring out magazines, souvenirs and newsletters highlighting the activities of the Department and its Alumni

To organize cultural and educational programs and to conduct periodic Alumni Day celebrations.

To carry out such other activities as may be necessary for furthering the above aims and objectives.

To help the Alumni to get advice from the Department on various professional matters.

To share among members job opportunities and research/professional opportunities that they may come across in their work life.

To conduct research in various fields of interest in partnership with and in areas of interest to the employing agencies.
